the studio
Bacani Architectural Design Studio is a Davao-based architectural practice founded in 2025 by Ar. Yudin Bacani.
My approach to architecture is grounded in a simple belief: good design should serve the people who live in it. Beyond aesthetics and trends, I see architecture as something deeply personal, shaped by everyday routines, human connection, and the way spaces make people feel over time.
I use AI and modern technology to improve the design process, helping ideas become clearer, faster, and more responsive. But no tool can replace the most important part of architecture: understanding people. Every project begins with listening. Before drawing plans or shaping forms, I take time to understand how people live, what they value, and what kind of space will truly support their lives.
As a Davaoeño and a graduate of the University of Mindanao, Class of 2019, my perspective was shaped early on through my experience under Ar. Gloryrose Dy-Metilla of Swito Architecture Designs, a practice recognized for heritage conservation and community-rooted work. That experience taught me to design with sensitivity to context, culture, and the stories embedded within a place.
Today, those values continue to guide the studio. I believe architecture should feel honest, purposeful, and enduring. Every line, material, and decision should have meaning. Rather than adding more, I focus on creating spaces that feel clear, natural, and deeply connected to the people who use them.
The Principles
People Come First
Architecture is ultimately about people. Every design decision is shaped around the way you live, move, gather, and grow. I believe spaces work best when they feel intuitive, personal, and genuinely supportive of everyday life.
Place Matters
Every project responds to its environment. The climate, the landscape, the culture, and the character of Davao and the Philippines all influence the way I design. I aim to create spaces that feel grounded and naturally connected to their surroundings.
Purpose Over Excess
I believe simplicity has value when guided by intention. Every element should contribute something meaningful to the space. By focusing on what truly matters, the result becomes architecture that is not only visually refined, but lasting and meaningful.
The Credo
Architecture begins and ends with YOU.
